thanks in advance

If the light is coming on the the system has failed. The main components are a sensor on each wheel, the ABS pump and the control module. Pads have no effect on the ABS system check at all.

You will need to have the system hooked up to the dealers computer or if someone who lives nearby has VAG-COM they may be able to help out.

it all depends when the light comes on if you turn ign on, abs light comes on, then go's out, drive away and then abs light comes on it will be a sensor if it comes on and stays on without the vehicle moving it will need hooking up to a code reader/vag com. if its the first scenario then reply and i will give you further tests that you can do if you have access to a voltmeter. there are various threads on this site with same problems try a search !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes the light is on when i turn on and does not go out when driving then another time it is out when turned on and then comes on when driving....also one of my rear brake bulbs come on showing that it is blown but it is not ...perhaps it needs cleaning.

thanks

I had a problem with the ABS light and after I had tried a few 'emergency stops' the problem seened to cure itself.

Make sure that the abs connectors are okay.. u can see them under the front wheelarches near the shock absorber.

I was aslo informed by a mechanic that it is possible that rusty brake dust etc can get stuck between the sensor and disc (i think the sensors are magnetic) and this can also cause problems.

This can happern when the pads are changed.
